On to nevill...

Nice to see that peace has been restored. So the request is to either bribe Miriam into peace with the Drones again - or to support the latter up to the point that they can withstand the Believers?

I mean bribing Miriam into peace with the Drones.

MY 2274 to Pfeffersack

In light of the impending conquest of Steelfount by hostile Believer forces,
in light of the lack of interest on part of the interfactional community in resolving the Drone-Believer conflict,
the Nautilus Pirates have decided to take over military control of the Free Drones bases, in order to protect its population from Believer war crimes.

This year we have assumed governorship of both Steelfount and U.N. Headquarters.

We remain committed to upholding all treaties signed recently.

Believers have made peace with Drones. You may return the bases to their owner.

Turn.

University "peacekeepers" on Drone territory? Wonder what's the story behind that... :crazyeye:

As a sign of good faith I have returned Steelfount to Drone control. U.N. Headquarters is a more complex matter however... Former citizens of the Peacekeepers would prefer to stay under Pirate rule, rather than return to Drone domination. Furthermore, the Drones kept no census of the origins of the UNHQ citizens, so it is difficult to know how much of its population is PK by origin, and how much Drone. This makes it hard to tell if there is majority for staying with the Pirates or the Drones.

A solution would be to hold a referendum to decide the fate of the base. But in that case I'd like to suggest a similar referendum is held in former Morganic and Gaian bases. If a referendum is held there on their return, I'll do the same.

So, what's your opinion? Are you ok with Pirate control over UNHQ, or do you insist on its return?

On another matter, I can't help but notice that your military power keeps increasing strongly, while I, on the other hand, have stopped military production. May I ask why you need all those extra units? Do you not intend to honour our peace treaty?

Claiming their loyalty of Peacekeeper citizens after committing an act of genocide against them is astonishing in its audacity. There are simply no Peacekeeper citizens left to speak of and you know that. Or can you show a proof to the contrary?

Neither Morgan nor Deirdre was eliminated, so I do not think you could compare our situations.

Our agreement was not to commit agression against any of the factions.

Quote: "I just do not want you taking any of Miriam's/Luttinen's/other factions' bases as much as you do not want me taking over Drones.

The treaty is void if one of us violates the spirit of the agreement by attacking, pillaging, sabotaging, or provoking other factions into doing it, or by other means that are too much of a bother to type."

You have violated that agreement on the very first turn. Should I view that as an act of agression? You tell me.

Do you not intend to honour our peace treaty?
Are you serious? If you honour the agreement, then I will do my part.

Please return U.N. Headquarters to its current owner, that is, Foreman Domai. It is too close to my borders for me not to feel strongly about it.

I never agreed to that. You proposed it, but I replied that I could not sign a peace treaty under that condition, and declined the truce you offered that turn. Two turns later or so I then offered a peace suggesting the terms mentioned here.

Yes, this is exactly where you have proposed to make Drone's faction a buffer state between ours. Right now this is not the case - you have destroyed that buffer with your own hands.

Should I take it as a sign that you wish to undo everything else that was proposed in the message?

Only because it would have been destroyed anyway, as then you did not show a willingness to broker peace. Of course now you've brokered a peace treaty between the Drones and Believers, but it is too late now: a buffer needs a decent military power to perform its function, and the Drone military power has been broken.

Should I take it as a sign that you wish to undo everything else that was proposed in the message?

Of course not.

Turn.

This reminds me. Back when me and my buddies played SMAC, we used to gang up on the slowest player so that he did not disrupt the flow of the game.

...I am doomed, ain't I?

I'd like to suggest we end this game and declare nevill victor. If turn times are an indication, interest in this game is non-existent.

I think this game was worth my time - I had great fun fighting the war with nevill.
