Play.com sent their first batch of pre-orders of Civ IV this morning. However it would appear that they have not meet all the orders.

Mine this morning said order placed and then shortly after went to pre-ordered and then the description of Civ IV changed on the main website to OUT OF STOCK.

I phoned them up and I have been told that they have sent out the first batch of the game however they have far more orders than stock and will be sending it out as they get it. So basically some of you may be lucky however if you log on and still get your status as pre-ordered then you will probably not be getting the game from Play.com this week.

The lady also said that although they are likely to get more next week, there is no guarantee that this will meet the rest of the outstanding orders and furfilling all the orders could take upto 28 days.

Ordered Oktober 4th at Play... wonder how many copies they got. Guess they ordered 100's and got like 3 or so.

Otherwise they could have seen this coming and updated their order you would think.

*sigh*

Why oh why did I go for play... it had to be a fairytale :(

What a bunch of losers. I haven't ordered anything on play.com for a while, but this experience means it was definitely the last time. First they are the last ones to put forward their shipping date about 24 hours before they claimed it was being released (and I do not believe they didn't know about it), then they don't have the buying power to get enough games from the distributor. Fair enough, they're the cheapest, but next time I'd rather pay £2 more with Amazon and have the game in time.

Looks like i'll be cancelling my order then.....:sigh:

Im sure ill be able to pick it up in the shops on friday anyway

Although I agree. How do you know Amazon will meet all their orders?

Don't do that just yet, they may get more in before the end of the week.

god damn it, i dont know wat to do. I guess ill cancel my order and buy it from a store but 20 euros more expensive but i really cant wait 28 days.

I don't know for sure, but being Amazon no doubt gives them an advantage when it comes to order fulfillment from the distributor. Let's see what people will say on Friday, but I bet Amazon will fulfill theirs. And stupid me cancelled my order and fell for the Play.com con, simply because of their 28th October release date...

YES YES I JSUT CALLED score games and they have it since last week. omg im so happy, im gonna go pick it up soon

Mine's changed to Order Placed ATM, after being "Pre-ordered" last night, and hasn't been dispatched yet:sad:

*Crosses fingers and hopes for the best*

The change might simply be to make customers think that their order is being processed and to stop them from cancelling.

Their site is indicating that it is 'in stock' again and is 'usually dispatched within 24 hours'

My status has changed to Order Placed. I have only had one problem with a recent order, but that wasn't their fault but the Royal Mail. When I told them about it, they were quick to send out a new copy as soon as the 2 weeks has passed to claim it as lost.

I ordered a game from Amazon and paid for the postage. The game arrived the day after the official release date. I heard that Play do their best to get the game out to the buyer to coinside with the release date. In some cases, the buyer even got the game a day before release.

Woohoo! Just as well i didnt cncel, I know have order placed...
Does that mean it is def coming to me now or what?

No, it could be changed back, like before

Order placed means they are checking their current batch, if you are far enough up the list to get into the next batch, it will move on, otherwise it will revert back to the previous status.

Although this is slightly more promising this time as it been order placed for a little while *everything crossed*

Why cancel? Just wait awhile, it might turn good for you.

And another note: Just because they didn't meet their orders you can wait awhile? It doesn't really bother me because the day before the release of Worms 4 (I ordered) it said: Ordered Placed, i still got it the next day.

When I ordered the Black and White 2 collectors edition from Play and they ran out the display on the "my account" screen changed to "pre-ordered: due for release" with a date the week after the official release which is when they would have had the next batch available. As my order now says order placed rather than preordered I am taking that as a good sign for the moment.

I wouldn't cancel your orders until you get confirmation that your copy is going to be delayed.
