I'm trying to collect all the FFH trophies. The last civ I have not played is the Mercurian so I'm playing as the Lanun then switching to the Mecurian.

The problem is, after the switch, I cannot do anything at all. The one and only thing I could do is to move the units around. However, I cannot control what I build in the one city I have (the build menu is completely empty with nothing for me to build and the game builds a Drown for me even though I don't want to build it). I can't control the research either.

Since I'm stranded on an island and can't build boat nor build another city with my settler, it looks like there won't be anything for me to do other than walking my units around the island.

From the manual, there are a few units that the Mecurians cannot build, not all. What did I did wrong ?

I didn't have the exact save but could get one a few turns before that and reproduce the problem by giving myself a GE to finish the Mercurian Gate. I don't know how to upload the file though. The "Attachment" button requires a URL apparently. Is it possible to attach a local file or do I need to set up an account at some place like photobucket ?

BTW, I played again using the Kuoritates and it worked fine when I switched to the Mercurian. Guess I just ran into a weird bug the last time.

The "manage attachments" button when you post will allow you to upload attachments. (It is in the "attach files" section of the box below, if you haven't seen it.)

Thanks. I looked at the uploading choices again and realized I missed the "Uploading files from your computer" option.
Anyway, I know what happened now and it might not be a bug except that in some cases, I might as well give up.
I could reproduce the problem in another game, also played as the Lanun before switching to the Mecurian. The differences were that since I knew what's supposed to happen (when playing as the Kuoritates) and since I was on a pangae map instead of on a small island, I could use the settler to build a new city. That new size 1 city became the capital of the Mercurian, the other city which built the Mercurian Gate was not. So, it seems in some cases the city that builds the Mecurian Gate becomes the capital of the Mercurian and in some cases it still belongs to the civ that builds the Mecurian Gate. I don't know which condition triggers this. Maybe with the Lanun I could get the Mecurian Gate built too early (turn 171, Epic speed) and so get penalized into starting without a city, only a settler ?
Obviously, with only a settler and no land to settle nor any cities to capture (i.e. when trapped on a small island), there's nothing left to do but to give up the game.

I can't load the save file. Are you sure it is the latest patch and it is CORE FfH (not a mod-mod)?

Best wishes,

I just downloaded from the FFH website and I'm not a modder :). How do I check to see which version of FFH I'm using ?

Actually, looking through the doc at the web page you pointed to I found this:

"Sometimes Basium doesn't take over the city with the Mercurian Gate (this is because he has the OPTION to do so by a spell at any point in any city with the Mercurian gate. Occasionally he decides to move instead of casting this spell, and if he never returns to the city, he'll never think to take it)"

It's supposed to be a feature, not a bug. It's definitely an obscure feature. I don't know if having multiple cities with the Mercurian gate is allowed and why should anybody wants to do that even if it is. On the Basium side, having an existing big city as the capital is surely better than starting with a size 1 city.

Good research there! I'm glad you found your answer, I didn't know that!

I hope you have a good time with FfH II.

Thanks for the work on the mod. I have a great time with it. I've collected half of the trophies now :).
