Is there any way to play Civ "Windowed", i.e. have it on my desktop, so that I can do other things (open other apps) or surf the web?

Thanks

easier use of trainers? hehehe or use some of your own good music in stead of the packed crap? Good question, now you have my curiosity up too.

i mean, how many times have you guys been playing Civ and thought,

"id like to check the PDF manual about this..."

or

"id like to check the web and the Civ Fanatic site about that..."

or

"i wonder how many points M. Jordan scored tonight...."

you get the picture...

:crazyeyes

not a perfect fix by any means, but it works for me. open those apps *before* running civ, then alt-tab to them and back when desired. i use this for the pdf manual as well as these forums and outlook. works like a charm. just make sure everything u want is either open or accessable thru an open window since u can't see taskbar, desktop, or start menu.

yup, Alt-Tab works fine, and you could also try pushing the START button on your keyboard -- between ctrl and alt, which is something of a trick I use to get out of the game without quitting it.

I cant alt-tab to my desktop in xp. it just puts the game in the background and anything running pops to foreground, you have to long ways about browse to the desktop. but, it does work...

You don't need to open the apps first either. CTRL+ESC opens your start menu. Launch whatever you want from there.

But yeah - it is annoying the way you can't minimize the game, at least not easily.

Playing the Civ3 music at work? WAY too much risk, WAY WAY too little reward (that f&*king chirping bird!!) :rocket3:
