Hey Everyone,
I've been playing around with this for a while, but haven't been having much luck, so I thought I'd see if anyone else has looked into this.
I'm trying to get Civ V to run on a PC that hasn't gotten a 'proper' Steam install because I'm not an admin user. Steam is on the computer through my playing with the command prompt and 7zip, but I can't install the Steam service. I can get Civ V to load the selection where you choose your DX version, but after that I get the "Steam Service must be installed".
Basically I'm working on a remote jobsite where my only real duty to to wait for construction projects to complete and then do final weld inspections, which means I have a lot of time to kill. I have a company laptop there that I'm free to use as I see fit, but tech didn't give me admin rights. Rather than drag my laptop in everyday, I thought I'd see if I could get it working on the work computer. With tech support being hundred of miles away and phone service nearly non-existant, I thought I'd try to go around the admin requirements.
If anyone has figured a way to get it to work that would be great if they could share. It's certainly not the end of the world, but I thought I'd give it a try.
Thanks much
