I played pre BtS WOTMs without problem, now I either get a message that the save file is protected or C9v-warlords crashes if I copy the provide GamecoreDll.dll file to the HOF folder. I have Vista.
What do I do wrong? Thanks!
Vista presents issues of what access rights different users have on various folders, so make sure your mod folder with your HOF mods has "full control" to all possible users. Can't say that is the problem, but worth doing in general (it avoids a potential options screen lockup, but maybe that issue has been fixed in the latest HOF mod installer).
I have Vista as well, here is some info regarding the dll's to check aggainst:
Pre 3.13 Vanilla dll is 3624 KB
Pre 3.13 Warlords dll is 3772 KB
3.13 Vanilla dll is 3630 KB
3.13 Warlords dll is 3,778 KB
Path to the Vanilla dll replacment site is "Computer > OS (C) > Program files (x86) > Firaxis Games > Sid Meyer's Civilization 4 > Assets > CvGameCoreDLL.dll"
Path to the Warlords dll replacment site is "Computer > OS (C) > Program files (x86) > Firaxis Games > Sid Meyer's Civilization 4 > Warlords > Assets > CvGameCoreDLL.dll"
So use the file sizes to be sure you have the right dll in place for what you want to play.
Edit: Re-reading your post, the dll's don't go in the mods folder, they go in the assets folders (see paths above) copy the original to a separate archive folder in case you need it again (to revisit or finish a pre-3.13 game), then
replace the original CvGameCoreDLL.dll in the assets folder with the provided one.
If that does not work, then tell us...
Can you start Warlords without HOF mod? If so, can you then load the mod after a mod-free game launch? If so, can you load the save file after that?
One player found that while double click of start save did not work, a launch, load mod, then load save sequence did.
