Hello,
though my problem is not directly linked to Civ4... I am getting and unstable system
and as a result I am having dificulties playing my fav game...
Let me explain I run Windows XP (SP3) on my PC and use Firefox to browse, but somehow the system does need to update internet expl once in while, because I could not even add or delete a user account from my PC because the screen (for User Accounts (in control panel) ) would not open because there was some kind of error in the script!!!
So yesterday I had the bright idea to download and install IE 8, and it worked those problems were solved, but 'stupid me' deleted something in internet explorer (by accident) .
Now I wanted to uninstall IE 8, and then reinstall to solve it.... BUT it wouldn't uninstall probably and now I have no registry entry for internetexplorer !!! But I still have some files related to it on my harddisk (etc.), and if I try to reinstall it gives an error (without explanation) and creates a link on my desktop-to a problem solving website from MS, but if I open it InternetExplorer won't show anything, and when I open it with Mozilla Firefox, it won't open as it's supposed to because it's one of those Microsoft sites where you must use InternetExplorer (like @ windowsupdate.com )
Maybe I am blind and the solution is very simple, but I couldn't find an answer on the official sites.... and the last time I had a problem I got some great help here, so....
Does any one no how to solve this ( I mean without a complete reinstall of OS etc. )
