Hi

I have just installed Civ4 on my 32 bit Vista machine...

Installed ok (i think) but when i try to run it i get a warning about known compatability issues, the a message saying

"Please insert the correct DVD-ROM, select OK and restart application".

According to the firaxis site the solution is;

"Disc 2 is incorrectly labeled on some units as the "Play" disc.

1. Remove Disc 2 from the CD-ROM drive
2. Place Disc 1 in the CD-ROM drive
3. Double-click on the Civilization IV icon on your desktop, or navigate to the folder where you installed the game and double-click on the program, which is titled "Civilization4.exe" "

... but I only have a single DVD with the game!! Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem as turkey tickler, ditto, vista machine but have set it for compatibility with windows xp. i'm surprised 2k games hasn't worked out the solution to this problem, I've come across several people here who have had it...

patch 1.74 and 2.13 (for warlords) seem to have thrown a few cd/dvd drivers off course - you might want to check if there is a newer one for your drive out there :)

hmm maybe i will check out the nvida site... everything else seems ok... anyway i am rebuildibg my pc soon - maybe that will fix it without husing a crack :crazyeye:

I am using Vista and when I get to the 4th disk, it doesn't recognize it at all. Thus the game isn't installed. Any ideas?

I purchased Civ4 with my new laptop that is run on Vista. I installed the first three disks just fine, but the video disk isn't being recognized. Any suggestions out there?

Thanks.

what version of the game are you installing (I am not aware of an edition with 4 cds)
also does it give any error message?

i installed it on XP and when i try to run the game it says please insert the correct DVD-ROM, select ok and restart the application

i already have all of the latest drivers for my dvd drive

I have the exact same problem. Before I lent the game to my friend, it was working fine, but now it won't locate the CD and when I look on DVD-RW Drive (E:), there's nothing there!

None of the solutions other people have suggested have worked. This makes me very sad. Very sad. No one has a solution that works for me, so far. I *think* my drivers are up-to-date, am not sure. Anyone got solutions for me? :(

I have one drive, I think, and no copy drive thingy.

But guess what? I solved the problem. There was a sticky substance on the CD (my friend's fault, no doubt), and I carefully removed it with some water and tissue and it worked. YAY! :D
