That sux. I tried the no-CD crack for the beta patch before swapping and I couldn't get it to work. When I was looking around for a solution -
I read on a forum about alcohol( I think it was called). The latest version of it offered one guy a work around for his problem with his CD drive. It may be that he just decided to go to the pub and forget about conquests but I think its supposed to be some sort of pirate ware.
Copy protection that doesn't recognise some of the biggest manufacturers of CD drives products is a bit offside in my opinion.
In Alcohol you really can achieve that, if you make an image of the Conquests CD with the SD2 profile, you can mount the image without any problems and the game runs, but at my girlfriend's computer she needs something *simplier* so i went to the no-CD crack. But as long as my CD works with my drive i'm fine with it. If this problem with protections gets worse someday i will stop buying games. It's no fun buying games when along the road you have to dll no-CD cracks.
