What if there was a mod that allowed Pluto to be colonized? Ice would be the main resource there, so:

  • lumbermills would be icemills
  • the cities would look futuristic (that has nothing to do with ice, though)
  • oh yeah, and you don't need a lumberjack, but an icejack!

Anyway, this will be a Space Colony mod so instead schooners and galleons you would get spaceships and spacecraft (and lots of other crafts). The ground would look completely frozen with permafrost, and there is a danger of aliens! (not kidding).

This is just a suggestion for any modders out there who have nothing to mod over, so feel free to mod this!

P.S.: yes, if you must, anyone can change those names like icemill and icejack, but I happen to like them:).

Welcome to CFC, CivTycoon! :)
First of all, this doesn't go here; this is only for mod files. Questions go in the main Creation forum.
Secondly, this sounds interesting, but why Pluto? Something like Mars or an Alpha Centauri mod would be more realistic. I like the idea of a space Colonization mod. My suggestion to you is: if you want this mod to materialize, I would suggest learning to mod yourself, if you have the time :D . Its not *too* hard, and it is quite fun once you get the hang of it.
Just my 2¢.

I also don't understand why Pluto. Because of the great distance and the conditions there, a Colonization scenario would be complete Science Fiction. We don't even now as much about Pluto (compwared to e.g. Mars).

BTW, there are already fantastic Mods out there for Mars and Alpha Centauri Colonization (require Civilization 4 and latest expansion Beyond The Sword):

Flintlock1415, how can I learn to mod? I'm new here and only partly acquainted with HTML. Any suggestions on how learn to mod?

By taking a look at the available tutorials and 'examples' (i.e. other mods which do something similar to what you would like to do).

The rest is trial and error and perseverence with maybe a few questions for the more complicated stuff.

Dido. :D
XML is really easy once you get used to it, and I'm sure even slight knowledge about how another language works will help immensely. Before I started modding, I had very little knowledge about computers and esp. programming, and I was able to figure it out. Like Mamba said, there is some great tutorials to get you off the ground, and if you hit any brick walls, there is tons of help here on the forum. :goodjob:

If you are only familiar with HTML, then you won't want to get into the Python or SDK. But XML editing is really only a sidestep compared to HTML.
If you know any photoshop or 3D modelling, then that will also help.

Maybe. I might try to do this summer if I have time.
