plz help my game wont let me reinstall

alright this is wat is up my game was workin fine untill i downloaded the 1.74 patch, then my game wouldnt load so i deleted it.
no i'm trying to reinstall my civ 4 but it wont let becuase its sayin:

-the steup has detected that version 1.74.00 of sid meier's civilization 4 is alread installed. this setup installs an earlier version of sid meier's civilization4(1.61). you will have to uninstall the previouse version before installing this version.

that i verbatim of wats poping up when i try to download. i have made my hidden files visable and searched, ive had the computer search for the patch, ive updated directx

some1 plz help, tell me what to do

Start -> Run... -> regedit

Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4

You probably need to delete this folder as well: "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{CFBCE791-2D53-4FCE-B3FB-D6E01F4112E8}".

ty now it will let me start to reinstall but its telling me this:

error:data error(cycle redundancy check).

now wat do i do

Try cleaning the CD/DVD. Of course it could be that your drive is playing up. If cleaning doesn't work see if you can use a friend's PC to see if it works.
