Send em to our boy over there, he seems to think you have to reach a certain level before he will lower himself to communicate with you. ;)

I have seen several messages about forum for politics for politics and people disagreeing with the fact that there should be one. I am ALSO talking about a sticky, the forum idea is dead, all I am asking is if Political Debate could have a sticky thread, again I state NOT a forum.

You mean, like a sticky thread? For what? To announce the rules in "political" threads? If somebody's doing something they shouldn't (thread-jacking, flaming, being insulting) maybe you should just report the post to a moderator. :hmm:

No, a political thread with discussion on world politics in it, not the rules for political threads. i.e. a single sticky thread where people can discuss different political issues.:goodjob:

Such a thread would run to its limit (300 posts in OT) quite quickly; not to mention spammy, lurching off-topic fr post to post and so on. The present format is fine and at least breaks down the debates into their relevant threads. ;) Would be hard to debate if the theme of the sticky keeps changing...

I think you might find that such a thread would become unwieldy very quickly. "politics" isn't exactly a small subject.

Well, i have seen some stickys with more than 300 posts, like the sticky i am involved with, the THIRD REICH TEAM.
In OT, the limit's set to 300 posts, a legacy fr the really old days. Still being enforced by the mods.

In some other parts of the forum, this limit has been relaxed a bit.

We got over 400 on one of the OT threads once, of course it was all a useless waste of time, but hey, at least the closing of it ended a pointless argument.

Out of interest, what do you mean by "debate" steve? Just a normal argument thread, or a more structured debate?

A formal debate as such is difficult, becase everyone who wishes to post may add an opinion (and no, the sugesstion that you have to "qualify" intellectually will NEVER happen, EVERYBODY is equal here, we have NO eletists, nor do we EVER want any), so the feeling of a one on one debate is lost.

Another reason why such a thread isn't a good idea is that for ease of useage, each topic needs to have a title that describes the thread content, so people don't waste time clicking on subjects that don't interest them (which is why I often change undiscriptive titles, to make it easier for people to surf the topics).

When some story appears in the news that is big, we sometimes end up with four or five threads on that topic, and Lefty and I have to direct everybody into the already established threads, a political thread would undermine that a bit, and really is redundant when you think of it.

There have been long threads on Canadian politics, some on German politics, the EU, and the USA, and I feel the current system works well.

As to the 300 post limit, we keep that simply because it becomes tiresome to moderate threads that get past this number, and by post 300 it very rarely bares resembalence to the topic expressed in post one, but we allow a new thread with a similar title to begin where the old one leaves off.

AoA - I PMed you so I wouldn't have to disrupt these threads with trash. But you are just too disturbing and outright disrespectful for words to describe.

When in the name of holy God did I say you needed a bachelor's degree or any level of intelligence, AT ALL, to speak to me? Or anyone?

You are a fool and an imbecile! (I am trying my best to keep four-letter-words out of this, I apologize to everyone for use of the word "fool" :)) What the hell is your problem? Why the hell are you a mod? Who the hell do you think you are?

All I ask is that if someone wishes to argue with me, that they back up their argument. I doubt any professor would accept a persuasive paper on "Why Bush is A Bad President" that read the words "Bush is a bad leader, period."

Proof. Insight. Opinion. Words. ALL I ASK. If you wish to spam my thoughts with your ignorant phrases and cliches, do it behind my back.

You are truly a disturbing person to know, AoA.

Moderator Action: pending comfirmation by TF, who is the moderator for the feedback forum, Exsanguination has been banned for flaming and moderator baiting in several posts, trolling, including in his signature, and generally bad attitude. TF will set the duration, lefty

These forums are not primarily for the purposes of discussion and debate, this is a game site. The colosium is just an added curtesy for the members, for them to mingle in, but it is not intended that non game matters take any precedence or that there be any sort of elite zone for more serious debaters. The oh so skilled orators* will just have to slum it it with the rest.

*Only one here has market proof, at $300 and hour, to that claim, but law has not been my pricipal career, urban land managment has been

Your PM was more fun.

My, what an inflated opinion ye have of yourself.

You are a fool and an imbecile! (I am trying my best to keep four-letter-words out of this, I apologize to everyone for use of the word "fool" :)) What the hell is your problem? Why the hell are you a mod? Who the hell do you think you are?
In order:
My problem is mealy mouthed little twerps who think they are hot shots behind a keyboard
I'm moderator to keep like you from fouling this place with nonsense
I'm the guy that banned you two weeks.

All I ask is that if someone wishes to argue with me, that they back up their argument. I doubt any professor would accept a persuasive paper on "Why Bush is A Bad President" that read the words "Bush is a bad leader, period."
You seem to have a problem comunicating without either posturing or demanding others follow your train of thought.
You must find such rigidity of personality constraining to say the least!

You seem to think I give you any thought of all, actually I find my 5 year old more insiteful then some people.
(Not mentioning any names of course ;) )

You are truly a disturbing person to know, AoA.
Somehow, I seemed to be extremly pleased that I don't know you, and assuming you know me it yet another error in judgement on your part, seems to be a pattern. :yeah:

Exsanguination has been given a 1 week ban. Flaming and insulting a moderator on the forum is a very bad idea and those who try will always get a ban. This is explicitly stated in the forum rules: http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumRules.shtml

If you have problems with a moderator or a normal poster, don't fight the war on the forum. Instead use PM to try to resolve the differences in private.. You are also welcomed to PM/email me about those problems.

PS: I decided to give Exsanguination a 1 week ban instead of 2 weeks because this is the first time he violated the forum rules since he joined a year ago.
