Russia!!!!
Потому что я русский and cossacks are pretty cool :)

Financial & Spiritual! A good combo for a civ. Its special unit (skirmisher) is cheap and good to endure the game start.

Maybe there is a better civ, but this one is appearing to be a good choice ;)

India.
Ghandi looks WAY too cool now to not play him.

Greeks, just because Im an Ancient Greek fanatic, but I'll guess I'll eventually go to Germany if their tanks are better than the other civs, like in Civ 3

Elizabeth in England. What can I say, she's always been my favorite.

Without a doubt, the Mongols, Genghis Khan is the greatest ruler to ever live.

India,
Im trying india's starting point on the earth-map.

England will be my first game; using a real world map---I enjoy trying to recreate British North America (and hopefully NOT losing it to the colonists.):king:

Too bad there are no vikings.. :p
Well, i'll just have to go with my earlier "first civ", Russia.. :D

In-di-ahhh, as Gandhi. In Civ III, I usually played Cleopatra but in IV things have been shuffled around. I like being able to build improvements fast, and I hate anarchy. (That might be less awful now; ISTR that you can discover how long disorder will last before deciding to make a civics change, and back off if it seems too onerous.)

Somehow I find playing unfamiliar countries/leaders a more attractive option in IV than in III. I'm not a highly skilled gamer, and tend to choose whichever will be most forgiving of blunders. In IV, I have a feeling blundering about will have more dire consequences, but there's also a good deal of appeal to nearly every civ available. Anyone else feel that way?

I think I'm going to go with Rome myself. The Legion is my favorite unit. Plus I've been watching that new Rome series on HBO and it's got me on a Roman kick.

I really wish they would have included the Iroquois though. I liked their Mounted Archer unit.
I started playing the japanese. ( since in civ3 I could not exist without the industrial ability, I have tried ) But I am very disapointed in teh Samurai unit. by the time you get it it is allready obsolete. So I now pretty much play the chinese.
