Pop-ups repeating when exiting a menu

Started a new game for the new patch.

Sometimes when exiting a menu-type screen (tech tree, a city screen) I get a repeat of a previous pop-up. Not even from the same turn. For example, I leave the city screen and get "you have met brussels", enter key, "you have met marrakech", enter, "you have met some other cs", enter, "you recieved gold from a barb camp" - and those things happned 1-10 turns ago.

No game save attached, but that's just because I've found that reloading doesn't reproduce the error. I also didn't have the issue again for a while after posting, but have a little more info:

The problem only seems to happen when playing a new game session. I.e., start Civ5, start a new game. When it does happen, reloading the last save, even if from the same turn (I also have autosave on every 2 turns) doesn't repeat it. However, it will still occasionally happen later. If you continue a game later, after having closed Civ, it doesn't seem to happen anymore - just during the session where you started the new game.
