I don't know where or how else to put this, so here they are, my first impressions & comments on Civ7:
The player needs to be able to Denounce the specific City/Town when the AI settles too close to your capital. In fact, there should be no general Denouncements, only specific ones, like having too many units outside your borders or settling too close. This could be used as a springboard for the return of Casus Belli mechanics of some sort.
Discoveries are difficult to spot on the map. Can there be a pop-up notification which will zoom you directly to them when you first spot them? And also a lens for them to find them later.
Slide the Leaders Panel, top-right, all the way to the right of the screen, otherwise it’ll quickly run out of room with more AI players and larger maps, which will hopefully come soon.
There needs to be more information on the diplomacy screen. Simply listing “Leader Agenda -10” tells me very little. I have to go to another screen for that info, which isn’t ideal, so can there be tooltips that pop up when hovering over such things that give you greater detail, without having to change screens.
Get rid of the “show more/less” button when hitting Escape & just show the double column always. It’s less clicking to exit to windows that way, plus the other options, of course.
Give some indication that something is queued to be constructed on a map tile, and what it is. Especially when going to grow a city, this would be extremely useful as a reminder.
Bring back the ability to attach a Settler to a combat unit as an escort. Unless I missed the ability to do this, this is a huge faux pas for any Civ game since Civ 5 fumbled this so bad.
We need better camera controls. I don’t like the way the map zooms in flat for a few scrolls then starts to tilt the map more on each scroll inwards. I want the world tilted at a fixed angle and the zoom to be flat, like it was in Civ5. I didn’t like Civ6’s default settings and Civ7’s is worse. It’s a personal preference thing, I know, that’s why I want customization controls for this.
There needs to be an option to silence the loading screen, so I don’t have to listen to that woman repeat the same thing every time I resume my game. That’s annoying.
There needs to be wider spacing between City Size/Turns to Growth & City Production/Turns till Produced, on the City bars. The Turns bits sort of run into each other as it is now. Maybe even a vertical separator would be called for.
With auto unit cycling off, it still seems to cycle. I want to stick around long enough to see the results of my actions instead of zooming off to the next unit immediately.
When disasters occur, we get the information that X tiles were damaged, X population was lost, X units were killed, an X tiles gained fertility. That’s great to know and all, but rather pointless without telling me where. When these disaster pop-ups occur, can we get links that give more detailed info on these things, if we click on each item, or better yet, just a popup that shows all the info needed.
I’m constantly having to turn resource icons off, via Q. Why it comes back on after I turn it off, idk. Why sometimes I can’t use Q to turn them on or off while in the midst of moving a unit, idk. But this is obviously buggy.
