I havnt got it yet, but I know, only 4 nations plus the pirate faction

This is Patrician IV with half the stuff taken out. Just sayin.

Edit: And Patrician IV is Patrician III dumbed down and streamlined with fancy gfx... Ah, gaming these days.

lool its like port royale 2 than patrician 3. port royale has more than patrician, yu not only trading but also be a pirate. but better only pirate than trading. trading is not as good as pirating

You can be a pirate in Patrician also.

The entire layout of menues, buttons, statistics etc. is exactly the same. The map is exactly the same only with the carribiean. Cities are exactly the same only with less clickable buildings and non-clickable citizens. Combat is exactly the same only less advanced and less options. Trading is exactly the same down to the menues, windows and buildings used only with a whole bunch of advanced features taken out which force you to mostly use auto-trading. Seems to me the way they made this game more combat focused was simply to remove most of the trading...

Maybe I just haven't got far enough yet, but I am having trouble thinking of a single big difference with the game. I suppose the countries feature is one.

My game, I started as a trader (maybe that was a mistake?) to build up a trading empire before turning pirate wich I am soon ready to do. Maybe then I will find all those different features? I have been fighting a good deal already and haven't really found anything different.

Granted, Patrician and Port Royale are closely related series (made by the same people obviously), and the logical thing would be, if you want to pirate buy port royale, if you want to trade buy patrician, but never buy both because they are IMO just about the same game with different settings. That was the mistake I made that ticked me off a little on this game.

the big difference is just one in carribean and one in europe than, patrician is like hanse, that hanseatic trade league and the fighting trait is in both series not so much you get contented with, if pirate than better sea dogs 2 and sidmeierpirates. Age of Pirates 1 and 2 were disastrous.

they are in fact close related series but playing one in carribbean and one in northern europe to make a difference

or any other difference between port royal series and patrician series there?
