Anyone know which ports are needed on the multiplayer? Especially the ports used in direct connection?

i would also like to know this...does anyone know this info yet? appreciate it.

I can't recall and I'm at work but if you check the primary Civ4 config file I'm sure it's in there. Go to your Civ4 folder and look for the shortcut to the config file. I'm positive I saw the Port setting in there...

Inside the file, i found:
; NetComm Port
Port = 2056
When the direct connection host is running, a "netstat -ban" shows civilization4.exe listening to 2056 UDP. I tried opening this port, but didnt work... maybe something more is needed...

This port worked for me, but I'm getting the out of sync error message and I can't chat with the other player...(Direct IP Connection). If you're using broadband with a router you will need to forward this port probably. I'm using DSL and forwarded this port, it works for me except the error, which I don't understand. I thought there would be more than one port?

I ran a portscan when running Civ4, and it uses these ports:

When I was just ideling with Civ4 it used these ports:
2056, 2075-2079,2081, 13139

When hosting a game it used : 6500 and 2056

Dont sure if it needs all ports, but worth a try..

udp 2056 is all you have to add to make it work trough a nat-router. at least that's all i had to add.
