but one question, why did you go urbanization instead of egalitarian?
Because Egalitarianism sucks as a civic. What am I supposed to do with an infinite number of specialist slots in a day and age when I have access to every building that provides them anyway? A point could be made for it if it at least had that unhappiness penalty for other civs like Emancipation does in Vanilla, but like it currently is it is just plain sucks. Capitalism would be the best civic from a gameplay point of view hands down, but obviously that goes against what I'm trying to achieve from a roleplaying perspective. Urbanization OTOH is a nice compromise that is both good out of character (Workshops, duh, and someone needed to build all those Workshops and Watermills as well) and in character (centralization of people in cities allows for easier providing of collective services like public transportation, education and so forth). The only problem I see is that this might lead to discrimination against people living in rural areas, but the government is trying its best to make advances in agricultural and information technologies, so that the same food output can be achieved by less people, allowing former farmers to migrate to cities as well, and to provide those people remaining in rural areas better access to the cultural life (as in lolcats and Friendship is Magic, considering I am about to complete the Internet soon).
Nevertheless, this society isn't perfect. It's way better than the totalitarian nightmares of the real life pseudosocialist regimes of Russia, China et al., sure, but a switch to Universal Suffrage and Egalitarianism at some point might surely be in order. Maybe a few years after the Internet has gained widespread popularity which would allow people living in more rural areas to make their complaints about feeling like second class citizens better known. Then again I might just decree those civics per UN resolution, because it was a pain in the *** to manually bribe so many civs to switch away from Capitalism and Autocracy, and some are switching back at the first opportunity anyway.
Maintaining world peace isn't as easy as it sounds either, just the very turn I made everyone make peace with the USSR and thus finally put an end to the last world war f**king Thailand became the Kingdom of Siam again and declared war on India. Fortunately there weren't any defensive pacts involved which would have set off yet another WW, so I just bribed Mongkut to make peace. Still, he made me very angry and I almost succumbed to my urge to just invade him and be done with that psychopathic warmonger.
I do hope to achieve a diplomatic or Space Race victory, either would entail the complete dissolution of sovereign nation states and the erection of a united Socialist World Republic in its place.
