I don't know what it is.

Ok last night I installed the patch. Everything was fine.

I loaded my saved game. A couple of turns later I got a Great Artist.

There was so use of him because I've already had a Golden Age, most of my cities are high on culture and normally I don't get them to settle in cities.

So the obvious choice was to discover a tech. When I rolled over, it said "Radio". So I thought, ok what the heck, discover the tech and stay ahead in the race.

So I did. The Great Artist disappeared.

And I didn't get a message saying that Radio was discovered. But I didn't pay attention because of everything else was going on.

A couple of turns later I discovered I think Democracy or something and guess what Radio was STILL in the list to be discovered!!

So either I'm crazy and misread Radio or there was a bug and my Great Artist was wasted or I pressed the wrong button.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm sure I'll get another Great Artist, so we'll see. But this happened right after I installed the new patch.

Your great artist provided a certain number of beakers towards the research of Radio but didn't complete it. This is normal game behaviour. Early techs can be researched immediately in this way but later techs require you to finish them off.

Jeremy.

Oh ok. Thanks. But my previous game, I had no problems researching techs with Great People well into the Modern Age.

Alright, as long as it's the same for others I'm happy. Thanks. :)

Maybe it depends on speed/size/difficulty.
Are your current stats the same as when it was easy to get full tech discovery?

remember that in the patch notes it is written that the tech cost in the late stages has been tweaked.
Btw in the modern age I've never ever seen a GP finish off a research straight away even before the patch.....
