Potential C3X for Linux?

Hi,

So, if any of you use Linux, you might be aware of the fact that its compatibility with Civ 3 is, quite frankly, absolute garbage. One of the ideas I had to help fix this is for the developers of the mod C3X to start testing on Linux, and preferably also make a better installer that doesn't require using the Wine command prompt. And maybe, while they're at it, they could try to do some more optimizations to widescreen mode.

Just happened to see this related thread while looking it up for someone else.

Since r17, C3X "supports" Linux by reimplementing the problematic GDI draw calls. I've been helping Flintlock debug some remaining audio issues. A native shell installer would be nice, but I haven't had a problem running it through Proton as a "non-Steam game". Finally, C3X has its own thread in C&C if you'd like to propose further changes.

I tried install C3 with Nobara42 and Lutris, but couldn't go past the Fmv intro.
Call to power would launch but then missing Assets and broken Fmvs also, game unplayable...
Lutris can be customized quite heavily. I think it is the best shot at playing C3 on Linux we ever had.
Nobara42 or Bazzite. I use Nobara.

GDI draw calls??? WHat needs to be installed for it to work?? Is it also Fmv???
Have you been using Nobara42 and / with/without Lutris or Steam OS or Bazzite???

I don't know what Fmv, Nobara42, or Bazzite are. All you need is Proton or Wine to run the C3X installer and then the game. There's also a whole thread here on the technical issues with Linux that predates the C3X fix.
Nobara42 is Fedora Linux with custom Proton and wine pre-installed, with 32 bit Win games compatibility.
You can install Windows games like it is widows basically.
It's Linux, just a super neat distro.
