Preview: Extended Mod (new original graphics, units, techs amd more)

Perhaps a better means of limiting Settler production would be to only allow them in Cities which have a particular size say population of 4 or more, that would effectivly slow you down early and keep settler production centralized in your core Cities. I could just add a tag in Units <iCityPopRequired>

Dose that sound like a usefull tool?

My intention was to slow down expansion in the early stage of the game and to encourage some military activity in this stage. Despite the fact that in Civ4 Firaxis tried to stop AI from cranking out settlers like a hell with their new maintains system, to my opinion AI still produces too many cities in the early game. And this stifles its economy. Frankly I’m not very happy about this maintains system so I decided to try this way. From another hand I added City Hall building which reduces maintains costs the same way as Courthouse does. So it’s harder to produce settlers but easier to maintain bigger Empire now if you managed to build more cities or if you go on conquest early in the game.

this is what i thought your reason would be ,many of the best mods out right now are looking to work on this very thing (total realism 2.0 being one) What level are you playing at ? I play prince about to go to Monarch :crazyeye: maybe this would seem like a better change if I was being clobbered a a high difficulty level ,but i can produce settlers just as fast as the AI at prince:cool:

I can see however that this change would represent a much more
real life way of expansion.
the post before this one has an interesting way of solving the problem that isn't a complete change that would slow settlers production
even tho I have kinda complained about the change:blush:
I am going to play a game ;) I have already kicked the crap out of Izzy & have two cities( Both Holy cities):eek:

I really like all the rest of the changes & new items & graphics
so I will keep track of this thread to see other peoples thoughts
and how you choose to make other changes
 
Anyone got a screenshot of the new tech tree? I'm always curious about an overhaul of this size.

Actually a great idea, Impaler. Have you got this done already? It can be used also for some other stuff to my opinion, not just settlers;)

Well, I play on modified Noble: all advantages for both human and AI player have been removed. I’m also testing modified Marathon speed: <iTrainPersent> at the level of Epic speed. Quite interesting…
 
I can whipup an <iCityPopRequired> tag tonight and it will get incorporated in next CCP release.
 
Bump, just wanted to keep this sweet Mod ware people can see it, Also Gnart you should consider putting your Art files on the Mod Components page lots of people would like to use them. Along with what ever your currently working on...
 
Hi, I really want to play this mod but I get the red dome problem with the treb.
I have extracted the file into Extended mod/Assests/Art/Units. still no luck,

What am I doing wrong??
 
I am such a loser... for giving up so quickly and not actually going through the game of this amazing mod...

The graphics are as EVERYONE knows quite AMAZING ... me and my son can't stop zooming in and out of the cities and units...

THE BOTTOM LINE IS THIS: THIS MOD IS THE FIRST ONE WHICH APPEARS TO HAVE NAILED DOWN THE " ROCK- SIZZORS- PAPER " concept perfectly. I don't have a degree in math to know that THIS IS THE FIRST MOD IN WHICH I HAVE HAD TO UTILIZE ALL UNITS IN ORDER TO SUCCESSFULLY COUNTER ATTACK what the enemy brings at me.

In other words, I have fallen in love with the "Crossbowam", which due to (maybe ??) an inordinate amount of strength promotions of other units (other mods), I have not in the past requirred the Crossbowman. Now I need them, when melee units approach my cities (ie Macemen)...I personally love what u did with the horseman and longbowman...

...and as for Catapults: I only used them to break down walls... NOW I MUST use them for collateral damage- again because I have never needed them in the past in other mods.

I have been playing with your mod for the past two days...haven't even got to CHIVALRY yet...MAN I'M JUST DRUELLING HERE, THINKING ABOUT THE GAME I HAVE JUST SAVED IN ORDER TO RUSH HERE AND SAY WOW MAN U GOT SOMETHING GOIN ON HERE. THOSE ADDITIONAL TECHS ARE .... can't ... even ... describe ... da .... words...

AS A MEDIEVAL LOVER... THAT CRUSADER WONDER IS..... WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-U have given the player, perhaps of what it was like to have been a true warrior heading to a cause with the added strength of comes with "figthing for the cause !"

I have also noticed what I am sure other players know: That in my game for the first time that I am playing- There actually is going to be a real race in the Cultural Victory Condition...I am sure this is because of the City Statue (25% cultrual boost)...Man good work here...

Besides a God-given ability in computer graphics, U have a very solid imagination rooted on realism...

We da community should ALL be very appreciative of YOUR time and effort in this compilation...

Would personally love to see additional units in modern era.. ie (helicopter transport, humvee... would personally love to have knights cause a small degree of collateral damage, advisor screens as made in Total Realism and other small personal items that frankly I can't even think about because I really want to get back to your mod...and the game I have saved- I am appoaching CHIVALRY... Having Christianity, Crusade Wonder my Crusade is going to leave me with: .... quite frankly: a divorce.

PLEASE DON'T STOP UR WORK HERE...

I have a proposal here for you:
It's a major project, but with your skill level it would be awesome. Have you thought of making culture specific city art for the middle east and others, you know finish the job Firaxis half did with just east asian and mediterranean cities.
 
I can't get the download from 3DDownload, is there something wrong with the file at that site?

Looks like an interesting mod.
