Swedish CV 90 AMOS wich is a Advanced Mortar Tank able to fire most of the advanced mortar ammunition and the new Bofors STRIX guided smart mortar ammunition.
Looks Cool, I like the double barrel.
If you made it in this in a CAD program you probably can't animate but if you can render you can move, render, move, render whitch is defiantly not the funest way.
You may be able to export as 3DS which can be opend in other programs that can animate (you can find links to free versions in theads with 3D programs in the name)
Well, the CAD prg I´m using can export the graphix to .tif format. So maybe I could go through PhotoShop to obtain the right format before animation.
One other idea I got was to produce units in a co-operation. Since I want to concentrate on 3D models, some one out there, who like to do animations, could do the animation part.
Hey Kingpin,
I havent abondon it, just concentratet on a unit that may be more useful to more players than a Swedish UU. But it still hangin in there, waiting to be finished.
It's a really cool and much needed unit. The only SP artillery type unit that has been created is the Sturm Tiger by Kinboat. This one, although more modern than the Sturm Tiger, would be very useful as a generic SP artillery unit.
I don't include the Radar Artillery as an SP unit, however, because, it is supported with radar units and really isn't self contained.
Well the main reason I put this unit on ice is lack of good pics and drawings. Had to guess much of the details on it. Since it is a very new military unit its pretty much a secret thing, so I couldnt get any good pics or drawings from the manufacturer.
I'd say, for the reasons you gave, it would be better as a generic unit, rather than a "Swedish UU." If it was just called a Modern SP Mortar Artillery unit it will go over well. No one else has made anything like it.
Ofcourse everyone can use it as they sees fit, but the main reason doing this unit was to put them into my SweMod. But as you said there is no unit like it yet. I´ll finish it as soon as I get better pics and drawings....
As the unit is now there are many flaws, the barrels are way to thin for example.
I doubt anybody would want to do the animation, the making of the model is the fun part, the animating is the tedious part.
I use PSP to screen capture (shift+c) then F-11 when cad pops up, its also good to set your background color to 255, 0, 255 magenta before you start rendering.
Neomega,
I thought so, but it I had to try... I am about to dig in to the Animation Shop and so on for the animations.
But as a stated before I need more info on this one, dont like to guess 75% of the details and values.
That is one cool looking piece of weaponry. Got to hand it to the swedes for their uniqueness of materiel.... I like ther way the viggen's look too, and doesn't Saab even have a forward swept fighter?
Yeah, I know...will check it out, have them installed along with Animation Shop. I´ll test them and see wich one i like..... but Moray I wont use thou.
Here's what I came up with Omnimower... I haven't found a way to import UDO's yet so I can't really help you out. Anyway it's really not much different from what you have already, and mine does suffer from a lack of images. In the picture I had the barrels where shorter but the rest seems to be the same. I really didn't finish this off and I'm missing the details but here it is as a reference.
You have a great model... just make the center projection a little wider and that gives you room for a bigger gun/barrels...
Very cool looking unit !
It would be nice to end it
Since I've almost finished the Rascal , we would have different type of artillery, going from the lighter (Artillery of Civ3), via the CV90, till the Rascal !
Very promising !
About the animation : I use Rhino, render every frame, save it, then import it on PSP7. That's tiring, that's boring, that's discouraging, but that's the only way I konow by now. I'll look around too about Povray and others !
