Preview: Viking Civ(s) City Lists

I checked Uppsala the other day. Apparently the Uppsala of today is not the same as back then. Old Uppsala was moved to a place called East Aros, wich is Uppsala of today. :crazyeye:
So it was Uppsala to the vikings and not Aros.
 
Thanks Superunknown, that clears that little mess up then. Well, sort of anyway ;)

No wonder if the vikings felt a bit root-less from time to time.
 
Digging up a really old thread here. :)
Lund and Helsingborg shouldn't be cities for the Swedish Vikings, it should be for the Danes, as it is old Danish cities. Skåne was Danish, remember? :)
And Braethraborg, isn't modern fiction, it's just used in modern fiction.

I've used the Viking era as the litmus test to figure out which cities to use for which countries, and that's why Lund and Helsingborg ended up being on the Swedish list. They have been danish, but to the best of my knowledge, were not settled by Danes or possessed by Danes for any length of time during the Viking age.

I haven't been able to find any scientific mention of Braethraborg, but if you could point me to any sources, I'd be happy to take it up again.

I'll check out the history of Strängnäs. Didn't know it was that old a city. :)
 
As a matter of fact, both Lund and Helsingborg were founded by the danes, but in the 12th century...i.e. after the end of the viking age.

Actually im pretty sure that the people living in Skåne had always been Danes before the Swedish conquest.
