Prince player team game BTS

Hello,

I'm a player that seems to be stuck at prince, no matter how much games I try, I lose half of them on prince ( while winning the other half :)), I'm looking for an mp game vs the ai ( any map, standard size but preferably with water eg. not great plains) with someone also playing on prince, hopefully learning from each other...

Now I have until Friday, as Saturday I'm going on a holiday for two weeks, but until then, I'm available from 5 pm to 7am GMT +1(so yes, all night :D) and I don't mind playing 3 hours at a time, I'm fine with a turn timer too as long as it's not too fast... I'm fine with voice chat if you reckon we need that for proper consultation but my English is a bit ''stuttery'' when talking :lol: and I'm fine with regular chatting too.

Is anyone willing to play with me in the next 3-4 days and hopefully finish a prince game together on a standard sized map ?

Depending on what time you read this, I might be able to play a couple of hours tonight. I should be able to play tomorrow night too.

Just one thing though, I don't really like team games. I'd be up for an informal peace treaty with you, if you were only interested in battling against the AI, but I dislike Permanent Alliances.

I prefer larger maps in single player games, but I guess it might be a bit much in MP. Standard size is fine with me. For Game Speed I prefer Marathon, but I don't expect you to want to play that. It seems it's not universally popular.

I've just started playing on the Monarch level in SP, but in my first game I've only been doing about average. I'd still call myself a Prince player, so we're probably about evenly matched. (Although, I've done poorly in all MP games I've been in, so don't be surprised if you end up racing ahead)

I'll keep this window open for a while, and keep checking in on the topic. If you reply soon I'll sign into Civ4 gamespy and see if we can start a game tonight.

Oh btw, I'm using BTS 3.17.
 
I don't think we an finish a game any more :(, I'm okay with starting a game tonight, but we might not finish it before fri/sat...

So we might have to continue the game in 2 an a half weeks instead ?
I'm fine with informal peace treaty, but I just don't think I can learn much from you that way :p, but I'm fine with that as long as you don't end up declaring war on me :D...

When do you want to start? In 2 hours or something? atm I'm a tiny bit busy with things but I'll be done in 2 hrs ?


Do you want to host or should I ? Up to you?
And what kind of map do you want? Since we aren't going to have a permanent alliance I hope we get a map where we don't sit in each others way :).
 
Actually, I would think you learn more from it not being a team game. With research etc being combined it's almost as good as lowering the difficulty 2 levels. With an informal peace treaty you'll get to see how another human player behaves in a similar situation to the one you're usually in.

2 hours is fine, but I'll only be able to play then for about 1 and a half to 2 hours. I'll be fine waiting a couple of weeks to continue also.

I'd like to play on either a continents map with a random number of continents, if that's ok. Also, would you mind hosting? I've joined games before, but never hosted one.

I'm okay with that, research may be combined btw in team games but the cost is double and I thought about 2vs2vs2vs2...

Anyways I'm fine with no teams and continents, I'll host at erm a quarter to 11 GMT +1 so erm, 9.45 pm for you...
 
When do you want to to continue tomorrow ? I'm sleeping till bout 6 pm tho so has to be in the evening :p.

How about 9:30 PM my time (or 10:30PM for you)? I should be able to play for at least an hour and a half.

Anyways, you seem to be doing a lot better than me. I should have took a few screenshots myself, but I'll try and summarise my situation.

I have a lot more space on my continent than you, quite a ridiculous amount of unclaimed territory still. Gilgamesh borders me to the North, and I just took the city of Eridu when I declared war on him. He has 4 more cities left, including his capital (which is also the holy city). I failed to rush that city just recently, and lost most of my stack to it. Now he's gone from offering Priesthood for a peace treaty to demanding the return of Eridu. I'm trying to reinforce Eridu as much as I can, but as it's not connected to the rest of the empire by road yet it is rather difficult.

Barb activity has also been quite bad for me. I'm glad I built the Great Wall, otherwise I'd have been too occupied fending off the Barbs to launch an invasion of Sumeria. However, they still make exploring the continent a nightmare.

I'm going to try and forge peace with Gilgamesh as soon as I can and try a little peaceful expansion until I discover Machinery. A stack of Cho-Ko-Nus and Catapults should be able to make short work of his capital. :)
