Anybody know of a way to print out a game? i.e. while it is in progress, I'd like to just print it out and take the time to study what it is going on, etc. before I move into a next phase of my plans...

I see info about customizing the game, etc. So, I was thinking maybe there's something out there.

print out? what exactly, just hte map? thats a tall order my friend.

you could do it manually, wiht a screen capture utility, then print all of them out.

i feel sorry for your printer though.

hmmm...I print out a lot of Visio diagrams, specs, docs, etc. on my HP/5M and it does just fine...

...yes, a printout of the known world/map just like you see on the screen and some kind of table format on cities and advisors info...

I reckon it would be a lot, just asking...

IIRC, Civ 1 had generated a text file that had a list of events from the replay that could be printed out. I don't know if you can do that with Civ 3. That was after the fact tho. You could print screenies, but I don't know how that would help. Taking screenshots is easy.

Easiest method:

1. save present game, say AD 40
2. let game advance one turn, doesn't matter what happens
3. quit game
4. replay and copy event history to a file
5. load game saved, AD40.

Actually only method I know of, Great idea
for an improvement. would make game playing more of a strategy game than a quick, react game.

I have not tried a screen capture program nor do I know if Civ3 has a way to capture the screen...however, I have tried doing an ALT+TAB to go to another application on the computer and I get nothing, i.e. no window in the middle of the screen with an icon for each currently running app so I can choose a new app to go to...

I haven't done my homework on this one yet (been busy wiping 2 civilizations and fighting off what seems to be the Russians and Chinese ganging up on me:) so, if someone knows of a screen capture app I'd appreciate knowing about it...

PC method (I know nothing of Macs other than that I don't really want to know more than nothing at the present):

See the Print Scrn key? It's next to your F12 on a standard keyboard. Press it.

Press the Windows button next to Ctrl.

Open Accessories under Programs.

Open Paint.

Right click on the new clean image, select paste. Or press Ctrl+V for paste.

If you did it right and I didn't screw up the directions, the image should be there, ready to save or alter.

If you don't have a windows key, ctrl-esc will do the trick.
Also, once other programs are running, you can alt-tab to them out of civ3.
