Ok I am now banned from touching my new computer (still allowed to use the old one) thanks to my stupid printer. I was tried to print about 5 pages of stuff on saturday. After it failed to print (yes the printer was on) I hit the print button about 7 or 8 times, again it did not print. So I cleared all but one. And this morning while my father was on the computer it started printing all the pages. ALL of them, including the ones I cleared. Not sure how many pages ther were, I got conflicting stories from my very angry and yelling father: One was that it was 20 and the next was that it was 100 pages. I think the second one is doubtful. What the hell happened?

I don't know what happened, but, although I have never experienced the same problem, I always encounter trouble when dealing with printers. I hate them, and think they are the single most user-unfriendly aspect of computing... I frequently get documents that are uncanceable and lock up the entire printer. I can't delete them, and I can't delete the printer (to reinstall it) because, of course, there's a document waiting to be printed. Somehow this solves after a few restarts and weeks of trouble...

Hm.. yeah...

Printers often have the problem of not getting commands until restarts... I've learned a while back not to try hittting Print again, just to restart, if it doesn't work, chech Task Manager, then, and only then will I hit print again...

Just don't hit Print again until you're sure the Ethernet/Parallel cache has been cleared from your printer.

Yes, I think a LAN might make it worse (i.e. yy problem usually occurs when printing over the LAN). Is the printer connected to the computer it's used on only? Or is connected through the network?

If it's directly connected to the computer you were trying to print on it's likely 1 of 2 things... may be both, but I'm doubtful...

I'm assuming you use a parralel port and cable for your printer? If so, the cord may be bad/badly connected...

Else, your printer may just be getting older and is having trouble processing requests... What printer do you have?

If you have winxp, 2000, nt you can always try to stop and restart the printer spooler service.

Also be sure he does not stand on "onderbroken" dunno how that is in english.

Did your dad not think to turn off the printer after the first 10-15 pages?

It would seem to make a bit of sense...

No Offense, but it seems kinda silly that your dad didn't just turn off the printer . . . even my technologically ******** parents would have, and they think that a Rotary Phone is much, much better then "those silly little buttons" . . .

Anyway, I do experience this from time to time, I have stuff queued in my print thing, then when I turn my computer on in the mornings, and go to school, it will print all kinds of things queued from last night, most annoying, so now I just turn my printer off at night . . .
