Has anyone ever played Privateer I or II? I liked them both very very much! But especially while playing Privateer II, I missed multiplayed terribly much! Isn't there a game privateer kind of game (in space) which can be played online? I figured the situation is ideal for an Ultima Online sort of thing! :)

Imagine: you're the privateer and you're on bounty missions or defence missions and other players are the opposite. Or you're a cargo pilot yourself (though that seems a bit boring to me  ). Or you're simply an independent hunter, trying to capture cargo's etc.

No game like that exists, does it? Wouldn't it be a good idea to send this idea to someone? Electronic Arts has the rights...

well, microsoft's freelancer sure suits that description, you can dl the demo here: http://www.microsoft.com/games/freelancer/

from what I've seen it looks very good (haven't tested the multiplayer though)

It suits the description very well! I'm gonna try it now! :D

Hasn't anyone here played Privateer (II), at all?

Freelancer is cool! It's 1AM now and I unfortunately will need some sleep. But thanks for the tip, KaeptnOvi! ;)

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you about the addiction thing ;)

I used to play both Privateers and loved it. (I prefer the first version, all those movie sequences were too much for my taste),

Well, it's not that addictive as Privateer. (I preferred the first one as well, btw.) But that's probably because I played only a trail version; there isn't any multiplayer in there. And I can't seem to find any ships that are better than the one you start with. So far I've only seen Manhattan have two other ships for sale, but they are worse than my current one.

The lovely thing of Privateer II was that everything kept it's price. You could buy anything and sell it for the same price, even after you've used it. :)

Yep. I've already seen on another site that Origin abandoned the production of Privateer III somewhere in 1999, posted with an e-mail address where to complain. I guess it'll take some time then.

And I've already been to www.origin.ea.com and e-mailed something about the idea of Priv3 too... But they're too focused on Ultima Online. :undecide:

Privateer was truly great! Much better than Freelancer.
