I don't have the computer exact specs with me -- it's my husband's computer, and he's asleep right now. (Darn Civ...) It's a Pentium 500-something. It has a video card, but I'm not sure which one.

In any event, when I go into the negotiations screen for dealing with other civs, the options for talk don't get displayed in the box below the "table" the way I think they are supposed to do...instead, they start below the bottom of that box, often giving me only two options to choose from, if that. (I can only see them when I mouse-over, since they are black on the background).

Nothing else seems wonky -- no other image glitches or printing errors.

What is causing this, and how can I fix it? I need to be able to have my full options...especially now that I'm getting the hang of the game.

Thanks!

Jennifer

Sorry, don't have a solution but you're not alone, there's others of us with the same problem:cry:

See the later thread titled,
Text appears outside of box, sometimes below screen

Outside of civ3 rightclick on the desktop and select properties, then settings, then advanced, then set the font size to small.

I've tried changing the Fonts.
Small (my default) has the problem with text appearing below the box.

Large (which wastes way too much space in windows), has the
exact same problem.

I've checked to see if I have 'font overrun', (more than 255 fonts)
I don't, I only have 77 Fonts installed.

My machine:
500 Mhz P3
128 MB RAM
Matrox G400
SBLive!Value
DirectX from Civ3CD

Well, actually someone on another forum gave me another thing to check out, and it worked for me. Which is good because I'd tried everything else -- drivers, yep--small fonts, etc.

Go into your Fonts directory (in the Windows dir), and get rid of all the Lucinda fonts. (Delete them or move them into another directory, your choice. :) ). That did it for me -- no more problems with the text boxes.

Another suggestion which didn't have any impact for me was to reduce the number of fonts below 250 or so. (Mine already was below that threshold).

Hope this helps someone else!
