Problem starting Civ IV after first install

Hi,

I've just installed Civ IV complete on my laptop, running with Win 7 Ultimate.
After installing (in Administrative mode, and also i've tried with XP SP2 mode)
When I click on one of the games I get the Loading screen and it just quits.
I've also tried loading the game with XP SP2, Admin compatibility mode.

I've added my DxDiag file.

I'm not sure if it's my graphics card or the win 7.
Civ II loads with no problems.

Please help me with this.

You may not have enough graphics memory to run Civ4, but I can't be sure. Laptops are a weird breed unto themselves. If the machine is ok to run Win 7 it should run Civ.

Have you tried looking in the error logs to see what it says when the program fails?

The video card is good enough. I have no clue about direct X 11, though.

Win 7 uses DrectX 11 natively.

Civ actually needs DirectX 9. I had to download and install the newest version to get BTS to run on Win 7. It's supposed to have it already, but I think BTS overwrote it with an old version that doesn't work right. Re-installing DirectX 9 worked a trick for me.
