Uh-oh. Just tried loading up the C3C editor that comes with Civ3: Complete. Got many errors during load, it appears that it is not loading any of the terrain pcx files. Editor will load the biq, and let you mod it, but you have a totally black screen where the terrain goes. I suspect this may be a registry problem caused by the installer. Anyone else try this yet? Doesn't matter whether you use the shortcut or click the file directly.

If any Firaxis people read this, let me know if there is an easy solution, I will be emailing about it. Needless to say, this is not acceptable. I bought this edition so I could do modding with it.

Hi Ivan ... this might just be a glitch. If you try a reinstall, it might fix this. (You will keep all your current save files, just backup scenarios - I'm not sure about those). The editor usually works, so I think this was just a sporadic problem. ;)

I've had that happen with the C3C editor. I don't recall if I just reloaded the editor, rebooted my computer, or reinstalled the game - but it was just a glitch to say the least.

It's possible you edited a file that didn't like what you did, if you played with terrain graphics. Most likely it's just a glitch.

Huh, discovered something very strange. Civ3 vanilla editor loads normally, but PTW and C3C editors do not. Also, they are showing links to old custom bix/biq files from the old install, which I removed months ago. They are almost certainly accessing these old reg keys somehow, that's got to be the problem. I'm playing a new epic game right now (gotta feed the addiction :) ) but later I will uninstall, back up the registry and delete any old keys, then reinstall, see if that fixes it. If successful, I will report back in the tech problems thread, may help out anyone else with this problem.

BTW, does anyone know if Civ3 installs any other files somewhere else that may need to be removed by hand?

Just in the registry. You might want to look at the Atari Technical Support help page and see if they have the keys you need to delete from the registry. Ainwood posted a direct link somewhere in the Civ3 Technical Support forum.
