problem with "D3DX9_26.DLL"

somone please help me,.... when i try to start it up it msg comes up and says "this application had failed because D3DX9_26.DLL file was not found. i have no idea what this means and when i put the second disk in now it just brings up a window that has a "data3" file in it.... which has a file size of 655,306....i have no idea what is going on and i cant uninstall or reinstall this....please help

I've also got this problem.

I've got Civ 4 installed on my data (D) drive and recently I formatted my OS drive (C) and reinstalled XP. I think this has removed a file that Civ 4 installs into the Windows folders, which it needs to run. It looks like a DirectX 9 related file

If I can't find an easier solution I'll reinstall. I'll try reinstalling directX first, as it might put down the file again.

You both need to install the February 2006 DirectX 9.0c Update:

or, if you prefer the "web" installer:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en

Install it, this error will go away.

Thanks fellas, you are indeed corret.

The DirectX End-User Runtimes (February 2006) Full Download was what I downloaded and it fixed the problem.
