I have been playing Civ 4 on and off for a few months now and while I wouldn't say I'm an expert, I thought I'd have a go at multiplayer.
I have been impressed at how well the game worked so far, no crashes, few bugs, but as soon as I tried the internet game option on Multiplayer, it wouldn't work. It seems to use gamespy and I checked my login on the web page (gamespyid.com) - it's fine.
But whenever I try to login using Civ 4, it doesn't give an error, but freezes for about a second, then just stays on the login screen as if nothing happened! I've worked out from reading other posts here that this isn't normal, and have forwarded port 2056 on my router as suggested, but no change. My username and password is definitely correct - and it doesn't actually say there's a problem, just won't go any further. Anyone else have this problem? Is there any alternative server to play online games?
