Problem with patch

I just install Civ 4 from original CDs and wont let me do auto software update, so when I go and download myself the patch and when i try to install it is says version 1.09 Civ is installed and this setup is not compatible with this you need to unstill this setup to install new one.

Anyone know how I can do that? "(

okay I just solve my problem, for some reason i cant go from 1.09 to 1.74 but i can go from 1.09 to 1.61 and then 1.74. I hope this help someone inthe future with this problem
