Problem with RFC RAND.

Hey everyone, this is my first post.

I have a problem, and the problem is that I can't get the RFC RAND mod to work. I downloaded the file, extracted it to my desktop, moved that to the Mods folder under Beyond the Sword, and everything seems to be in the right place.

When I start the game, I choose the advanced option on the main menu, click "load a mod," and RFC RAND is right there with all the other mods. Then I click on it and press the play button in the bottom right corner, but when I do, the game crashes and says that it's encountered a problem. To make sure there was no problem with the game itself, I loaded another mod, regular RFC, the same way, by going to the advanced menu and selecting "load a mod," and that worked fine.

The only thing I can figure is that the files that I placed in the mods folder under BTS are somehow messed up. Does anyone have any ideas, or have encountered a similar problem?

it may sound stupid, but: have you checked the versions? the current build of RFC Rand should be at bts 3.19, so if you have not yet patched your files it would crash. alternatively, you could be at 3.19 and have an old version of Rand, like 1.14. at least, that's the only thing I can think of.

Ok, well I made some progress. I originally saved the RFC RAND archive to my desktop. I got the stack of books icon, I right clicked that, and extracted the files to my desktop. I got a folder called Rhye's and Fall RAND. I placed that folder into the mods folder under Beyond the Sword, and as I've already described that didn't work.

So when I tried again, I right clicked the stack of books icon, and chose the option "Extract to RFCRAND116\"

This put a folder called RFCRAND116 on my desktop, and I put this folder into the mods folder under BTS. When I accessed the game, went to the Advanced menu, and selected load a mod, I found a mod called RFCRAND116, and when I loaded this mod, everything seemed to be working fine. However, when I clicked "Play Now!" I couldn't find the Rhye's_Terra map, so I don't think i'm on the right track.

To answer your point, I have BTS 3.17. I tried to update it to 3.19 one day, but I clicked the update button, it downloaded 3.19, but nothing seemed to have happened. When I clicked the update button again, it told me that I needed to download 3.19, so I'm not sure what the deal with that was...

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Well I think I've figured it out. It definitely has something to do with what version of BTS I have. I am convinced i need to get the 3.19 patch. How exactly do I do that?

Your second way of doing things ("Extract to RFCRAND116\") will not work as you describe it. The folder that you want to place inside the mod folder is the one from the first way (Rhye's and Fall RAND).

In any case, if you do not have BTS 3.19, the latest Rand cannot work, so you have your explanation. As for the patch, download it here.
