Problems starting CIV 4 *****PLEASE PLEASE HELP******

Hi,

I am, like alot of people, have trouble starting this game.

I havent updated to 1.09

When i click on the civ desktop icon nothing happens! no loading screen nothing!

The thing is i can play the demo fine? WTH?

One thing i have noticed, is that their is about 10 files in the C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\
directory that are just shortcuts, including _Civ4Config which i can't find on my pc so that i can enable logging?

I do have admin rights in my xp profile.

ati radeon 9600

2 things to try...

Insert the play disk and when it auto-runs play from there.

Un-install then re-install.

Did you un-install the demo before installing the full game?

yes, i have uninstalled and reinstalled
no, i didnt uninstall the demo!
