So I just realized this little imbalance between standard and marathon game speeds. The higher the cost to buy something, the better energy to production ratio you get. Since things are more expensive on marathon, you get a better ratio. Here's an example:
----------- Worker -------- Colonist
Standard 60P 270E(4.5x) 186P 640E(3.4x)
Marathon 180p 620E(3.4x) 559P 1470E(2.6x)

Coupled with the fact that the investment virtue for 1 EPT per 100 energy stockpiled takes a static amount of turns to reach its peak(say roughly 100~ turns to reach 10k energy, regardless of game speed). 100 turns in marathon is equal to just 33 turns in standard..

Point is, if you want to play a energy focused strategy(where you rush-buy colonists and production buildings in new cities), it's way better on marathon.

Wish these formulas would remain consistent between game speeds. I doubt it's intended. The marathon colonist energy cost should be 3.4x the production cost, just like in standard.

Issue they ported over from CivV...Purchasing should just be X gold per hammer + some extra fixed amount of gold for the 'benefit of rushing'
