Program the AI to rename cities after capturing them

I think this would be a simple feature to implement. When the AI captures a city how about it changes the name to the next name on it's city list? Think of all the times in history where this has happened. New Amsterdam becomes New York. Constantinople becomes Istanbul. And so on...

Maybe you could have a 50/50 chance of the AI renaming a city versus leaving the original name intact.

It's a good idea, except when a city changes ownership many times it can become frustrating for the player to rename it back all the time, so there would have to be a function that remembers the original name. The concept is good it just isn't #1 on the wish list for civ4, there are more important things.

I agree there are more important things. I only proposed this because I think it wouldn't be hard to add. :)

I don't like it. I'd find it annoying to see the names of cities constantly changing just because they changed hands again.

It's a nice touch, but hardly necessary. Maybe give the AI one renaming "preference" -- like if the Greeks conquer an important capital, they rename it "Alexandria". Have it occur as a rare thing.

But even then, it's probably not worth it.
