Thanks to all who have sold me to try Civ II. I just have one other question on what you think of the PS1 version. I usually prefer platforms and just thought it'd be fun to play it on the ps3 lounging on the couch.

I since purchased the game for ps1, but wanted to check if any of you know if there's a way to get an earth map for this. I heard there was one for the ps1.

I had Civ2 for the PS1 many years ago. Wasn't quite the same as the PC version but at the time I couldn't afford a PC so any Civ2 version would have done! I can't recall there being any way of adding specific maps or customizing the game, but its been a long time and someone may have come up with something. Good luck!

My personal experience is that often games for PS1/PS2 will run faster than the equivalent PC version,
BUT
will also have not as good graphics and fewer "goodies" than the PC version.

I hold this to be because the gaming consolle may be optimized for a specific set of instructions, BUT will never be as good as a PC when it comes to mass memory (memory card/module vs. hard drive) graphics (often the consolle microchp will have to do all jobs, unlike the PC's dedicated chips) and overall speed (the PS3 lags way behind a modern PC)

So I prefer a modern (or even 6/8 y.o.) PC to a consolle... anytime...

Mmm, you sure about that?

The PS3 has 8 processers and when 1st released was faster than ANY pc on the planet.

It wont compare to a modern pc today, but it certainly doesn't "lag way behind"...

A 6/8 year old pc would be like a sweaty jock strap compared to a PS3.

Hey by the way, please, lets not start a PC V's PS3 V's XBOX V's anything else war
