Putting Civ 4 on Steam

I was going to buy BTS on steam until it told me that I couldnt purchase it due to not having the prerequisite game (Civ 4, of which i bought the gold edition box a while back). So my question is.. is there any way to get my Civ 4 gold either on steam or recognized by steam or do i have to find the box version of BTS?

There is no way to get the disc version onto steam, other than buying it again on steam. And the disc and steam versions don't mix, at least steam prevented you buying BTS without a compatible version of Civ 4. You need a disc version of BTS to go with a disc version of Civ 4. I'd keep your eyes on the steam sale in the next few days - they often have Civ 4 complete on sale, I got it for £2.75. If not on sale this time, the Christmas sale may be a good bet if you can wait that long.

I heard rumors, something about "Civ4Gold" not being compatible with any BTS discs. I would recommed you to purchase Civ4Complete.
