hi fanatics. first time poster long time reader. i've been coming by here just about everyday for the last few months and everything sound wonderful.

my question is will we be able to stack armies into huge armies.
let me explain. Say i'm the germans and i have an army of panzers and a second army of marines or infintery and i also have and army of two battleships and a transporter. would i be able to take my armies of panzers and marines into my transporter, that is in my naval fleet.

So now my naval fleet has three armies in one HUGE army.
I go over to my friends front door blast the heck out of thier city with my battleships then drop off my two armies and bada bing bada bom, my friend just lost his right leg.

Will this be possible.:D

i dont think so..

an army should occupy three cargo spaces instead of one i guess. then it wont make sense, whether you load them into transports stacked as an army or a single unit.

true but how many units can a transporter carry five or six right.

if not six then just substitute one battleship for another transporter.

anyway what i was trying to say is would you be able to put one army if not two one a transporter that is in it's own army.

I don't think you could have land units and a transport in the same army.

I asked Jeff Morris about the possibility of forming an "army" of naval units 2 weeks ago. He said the "army" feature is only for land units.

Naval units can not form "armies".

just a question: is there any limit to the number of units in an army?

hmm, the info center says
Each race has a stable of great leaders that are drawn from when you create one. They live until used for either rush building an improvement or building an army.

How exactly will that work when u make an army?
will the great leader unit become part of the army? If yes as a normal unit or as veteran or what?
or
will the great leader be "used up" and dissapear?

In case 1(the leader becomes part of the unit) is it optional? I don't want a great leader bowman between my Tanks...

I think you cán have 2 armies and board these in one transporter. This vessel can go, together with 2 battleships to a enemy-city and kick ass.
However,
an army is an army because the hitpoints are combined in one attack.
The battleships and transporter can´t be in an army, so you can bombard a city many times and then attack with an army of marines. After that attack/occupy with an army of panzers.

This is a simple and powerful strategy that i guess everybody is allready using in times of war, with the only difference that we have to fight marine by marine and tank by tank now. The armies will make warfare a little faster, and that´s very good!

But on the other hand, i guess this will be a waste of the power of armies. I mean, battleships and marines will be enough to conquer coastal cities. I think i will use the armies for non-coastal cities. And 2 armies, is that realistic? it will probably only be real when playing a militaristic civ, since the chance of great leader appearing will be bigger.

You don't need a great leader to have an army, you can automatically build them if you have a certain number of cities I think (i.e. every three or four cities lets you have one army, or something like that).
