Question about dragons

First of all let me say that in my very humble opinion, this must be the best mod out there in the history of Civ :)

I do have one question after my current game as the Kuriotates, though. I usually play the creation map, so it's easy to get stuck on a island or some area that can only be left by boat or waterwalking. With the Kuriotates, this is made worse by the fact that I can only have three cities - and on that map I was not going to found on on the coast! So only my mages can get out and go exploring.

So imagine my disappointment when I found out that my great dragon hero is also earthbound! Wouldn't it make sense to let dragons fly?

Would be great if that could be implemented - or if somebody could point me towards a way to do it myself :)

The easiest way would be to edit CIV4UnitInfos.xml to give them the Flying promotion. You could also just set the flying tag in the dragon promotion to 1 instead of 0.

Flying does mean that they won't be able to use roads or get defensive bonuses though, so it could weaken them in some circumstances. It would also allow Acheron to move out of his city.

In my modmod I'm planning on either giving Dragons Flying or a "Winged" promotion (to be given to basically any unit with wings) that lets them add and remove the flying promotion at will. I'm also basically doubling the Dragons' strength (and making Acheron cost a lot more) and either removing breath fire and giving them a ranged attack or makeing the spell work like Pillar of Fire. I may give them Blitz too. They are going to be really fierce. The Dragon Slaying promotion will however be available to Melee, Mounted, Disciple, and maybe Recon units with Hero.

How exactly does a dragon use roads or human fortifications, anyway? They shouldn't be able to get defensive bonuses. Do dragons hide behind walls? No, they freaking counterattack.
