Question about Great Wall

Hey, longtime lurker/infrequent poster here. Just had a quick question, does GW obsolete when I research dynamite or when the attacking civ does? I suspect the former though I think the other way makes more sense.

You're correct. It obsoletes when *you* research Dynamite. While the other way would make more sense realistically, this way is better for gameplay: Dynamite is a tech that is nearly indefinitely avoidable and you can avoid obsoleting the Great Wall for quite some time.
