Years ago, my neighbor had a game that she always played, and I would always go over and watch because it was an awesome game, and I forget what she said it was called, save Civilization [ ??? ] .. I have since gotten Civ2 gold, and III, but I still haven't found the one that first got me into these games.. All I remember were the things that I think drew me most to it, like the diplomacy. The other civilizations showed up and had icons for how they felt, like a heart (all I remember) and she'd built a wonder that let her build cities in space, and cities undersea (I think it was both) .. but the thing that really fascinated me, oddly enough, was that she could turn on something that showed trade routes - and I only remember Jade, but I loved watching the icon follow the lines to and from cities, and every time the icon hit the city, you got more money. Can someone tell me which game this is? If it's just Civilization I, or something else.. Thank you, and sorry if that's a stupid question.

well - what you describe is NOT Civ.1 ... :undecide:

well blah, but thanks guys. I figured it was one of the Civilization games because it seemed like the same string of games when I bought CivII. but either way, call to power sounds like thatmay be it, and maybe someday I'll get it, but for now I'll just keep on playing what I have because they're darn good. Thanks for replying

It's definitely Civilization : Call To Power that you're referring to. Now I'm not sure if it's the 1 or the 2, but they're quite good games, they made me wait between Civ2 and Civ3 !
I really like the combat system, much more fun than Civ3, with flanking units, archers needing protection, and so on...

It's Civ: CTP. CTP2 had to drop the Civilization name when they made the sequel because of copyright issues (CTP made by Activision, Civ made by Micropose at the time, now Firaxis has the rights). I also remember that because CTP2 was a "rush job," a lot of the stuff from the original (like building cities in space) was left out.

It's a good series, and a lot of the stuff it has would do well in the real Civ series, but, IMO, the way these guys implemented it leaves much to be desired... ;)
