Question of Civ4 player playing Civ6 (eliminating AI)

A short question.
I did watch this youtube video.
Here he killed the AIs by just destroying only there capitol.
Is this correct?
In Civ4 you had to destroy every of his cities, but here it seems its enough to destroy only his capitol...
(27:20: he did capture only London, 27:30: only Washington)

Maybe someone can help me.

I'm pretty sure it also tells you in-game when you select the victory conditions, or in the civilopedia.
 
Conquering a capitol will not eliminate the AI.
But if you conquer all capitals, all AI may still be present in the game, you will still win.
The Domination criteria is indeed different that in Civ IV.
