In the ice age scenario where you start at 18000 BC and work your way to the present, the world starts off as a barren land. What I'm wondering is if a global warming style thing starts happening that warms the land to make it into a normal civ temperate map or if it just stays as a frigid map until endgame. I'd find out myself by playing, but I don't have the patience to play half a game to find out what happens later on because I highly disllike cold maps. Its a challenge, but it also feels like you can't do anything but build a scattered mine or chop the occasional forest with your workers.

I dread to think the number of nukes you'd have to use to get the Ice age map to a normal ratio - and the ice would still be in odd places. So basically, no, you aren't going to see the ice age map warm up appreciably.

That's in fact the challenge of the map - the shortage of good land. Unfortunately the problem will last the whole game.

@Ataxerxes: Are you talking about the scenario or the mapscript?? It would appear the OP refers to the scenario.

If you are talking about the scenario, be sure to quickly recon all around the map. I do remeber there is a nice spot in the middle-right of the map, with a lake and a copper ressource.
Get the Doviello early, for they will be a pain in the butt if they tech faster. They also have Iron.
Don't attempt to get your cities anywhere. Your starting land plus some riverside land will do. Keep the frozen land away.

That's what I meant by the scenario. There's a cold mapscript by the same name.

That was my impression as well. The Ice Age that comes with the game. Land tiles don't turn to water late in the game.

As it is a scenario not a mod, I think you will find you are right, Ataxerxes.

If anyone plays it, I wouldn't expect any change in the terrain.
