Hi !

I read a couple of thread about which level jump is the most difficult recently. For most people, the bigger step seems to be the Monarch - Emperor.

I've been playing Emperor for a couple of month now and I had very difficult time keeping the pace of the AI but my last 5 game end like this :

5 - Win (Diplomatic) 1st at Emperor (Ottoman Continent 60%) Large
4 - Win (Domination) (Ottoman - Archi - 60%) Large
3 - Win (Space Race) (Babylon - Continent - 60%) Huge
2 - Win (Domination) (Carthage - Archi - 60%) Large

All game with Max # of civs turn on.

In all those game I manage to get out of Ancient age with a tech lead (with the benefit of the GL) and keeping it for the rest of the game. :goodjob:

So for my last game I decided to see if I could win without building the Great Library. And here the result :

1 - Win (Space Race) (Byzantines - Archi - 60%) Large

My question is : I'm I ready for demi-god ???

If I can beat Emperor whitout the GL ... is this a good way to show my quality ???... (LOTR fan :)

And also, Can you share some tests that definetly tells that you're ready to jump to the next level (like me without the GL at Emperor .... I think it's a big test)

Thanks everybody

EDIT : I take what I got from the start and did not restart 50 times to have a good start loc.

How about try a game without starting on a river, around cattle/wheat (or any bonus food tile), and without using the Great Library.

Or, you could try this game that the RNG drew for me, and win by conquest. (It's a demigod game). It's also an "Ancient Era Only" mod.

Sounds like you're ready for demigod. I found it harder to switch from emporer to demigod because on demigod the AI starts with 2 settlers and that can be hard to overcome. Keep that in mind in the beginning and grab land fast and you should be fine.

I'm also playing at Emperor now, and I almost never manage to build GL - and typically I build only one wonder prior to Industrial Age.

But AI starts falling behind after that. I typically take a tech lead and get all 3 industrial wonders.
