question on unit graphics

is there anyway to make the battleships from final frontier float above the city and not in it, the buildings obscure it and its annoying.
i tried switching it to domain_air, but then i cant move it like a unit which is what i want.
i wish it moved like the gunship helecopter, it flies in the air above cities and it moves like a ground unit and can engage
please help =)
 
This is just a guess, but I think bActAsAir in CIV4ArtDefines_Unit.xml is what you're looking for.
 
Actualy, that only changes the pedia background. To raise the unit up, you need to adjust the z (IIRC) axis on the nif file.

I think Act as Air used to do that. I remember making a mod for Warlords that used that.

Anyway, my Future mod includes these unis with the z axis raised to varying degrees. I'm afraid to use a gunship nif because then I will probably lose a lot of effects and animation. Maybe sometime I will figure out how to do these right. In the meantime they shoot laser bolts horizontally as at other spaceships, even if attacking ground units.
