Is there going to be navigatable rivers?

Well, you could certainly have two or three-square-wide bodies of water that cut through a continent but technically they'd be seas or oceans. There are rivers but I don't think seafaring vessels can travel on them. I'll check into that and let you know.

Good idea!

At least the ability to create canals to some extent would be really useful.

But keep the game simple. Not all abilities are good.
