How do I actually change the text in the XML files?

Also, how do I do so to create a seperat mod from the regular files for the straight version of Civ4?

I want to create a Medieval Mod so that the techs die off around the middle of the ren. period. I would also like to alter some of the stats of the buildings and units. A bunch of other stuff as well such as time flow and what not, but I can't seem to get into the stuff the right way to alter it. Even if I could I don't know how to alter things without altering the original files.

Please help the ignorant. :)

With the keyboard. Open the XML file into any generic text editor and go wild.

I believe there's a tutorial around here somewhere. Basically, you make a new subfolder for each mod into the Civilization IV/Mods/ folder, let's say you call the first one MyMod. This is where you'll mirror any files you've changed from the original -- you don't have to copy any original files you haven't changed, only the ones you've altered. So this MyMod folder should contain Assets folder, which in turn should contain XML folder et cetera.

Sorry didn't know. Which forum should this be in? Thank you by the way I think I might of figured it out... More explanation couldn't hurt on this thread, as I couldn't find a thread that spoke of how to do this whatsoever. Just stuff on what the language meant.
