Question

I have noticed that several of Firaxis's built in mods have a custom map to them, with starting positions, forces, etc all in place (ex: The American Civil War, WWII, etc) What my question is, how do I link my mod to a partcular map? I have the map, all I need to do is load it up with my mods, and edit the map with my revised settings.

Edit: Please no flamming, no I am not a n00b at modding. I just have never used XML or Python before.
